The process
Four steps, from first contact to follow-up
Dra. Simone works fully online, using digital tools for client contact, communication and case monitoring throughout Brazil. Some administrative steps require attendance in person, including biometric collection by the Federal Police. The four steps describe how a matter progresses.
Message
First contact is through WhatsApp. Explain your situation in your own words; legal terminology is not needed. Replies arrive through the same channel. This is also where the documents to send, when and through which channel are agreed.
Review
The requested documents are received, reviewed and organised digitally. The review checks the legal basis, the documents and relevant dates to identify the applicable route and the authority responsible for the next step.
Strategy
The review informs the legal strategy: negotiation, an administrative measure or court proceedings. The relevant procedural documents are prepared and the proposed course of action is explained in clear language before each step.
Follow-up
The administrative or court proceedings are monitored through their stages, including deadlines and required filings. Updates are shared on WhatsApp. Steps requiring attendance in person are identified as part of the guidance.

Five things that help at first contact
None of this is a condition for writing. If you can already answer these five points, the first conversation goes much further.

Where you are
Which country, and which city if you are already in Brazil. The starting point changes the route: the consulate, when the person is abroad, or the Federal Police, when they are already here.

Which document or status
A visa, a residence authorisation, a CRNM, a filing receipt, or nothing yet. Say how long the document is valid for, using the date printed on it.

Request, notice or decision
If you received a request for documents, a notice or a decision, give the date you received it. Administrative deadlines run from dates, and that is what sets the order of the work.

A tie to a Brazilian
A Brazilian spouse, partner, child or parent, where that applies. The tie changes which route is available and what has to be evidenced.

What has already been filed
Applications already made, filing receipts, case numbers and appointment dates. This shows which stage the situation is at before any new step.
